Literature Text

To be whole is to remember
To remember is to forget the present
And look into the past–
To know who you were before
Your fragile wings were rent and torn,
Torn from your wounded heart.
This memory isn’t past or future,
But a place,
Not unlike Heaven.
Some have called it Peace,
Others Hope,
But most call is Healing and Rest,
Rest for the broken
Guidance for those who hesitate
At the crossroads of the present
Revival for the future
And strengthening for our souls–
Our shattered souls
That long to be whole.
This came to me in the car today. If any of you who have read my poetry before have noticed, I'm not much for rhyming, or for syllabic patterns. I feel like poetry sort of flows out of me, and has a message that can't be expressed the same way in any style or verse. So I hope you enjoy my poetry, and read it with an extra measure of flexibility, because you can't read it sing-song or it won't really work or make sense. Anyway, I hope you like it!
